great treats from the market ¤¤¤ MARKTTAG

Wandering through the streets of Blankenese we spotted a market and even though it was the end of November the weather was just so beautiful and so warm and sunny...

First stop was a natural food store in one of the side streets. reformhauskoeppen@gmx.de
I found some things I really liked, and before I knew it, both the very friendly owner and his just as nice assistant had made me so many good offers, that I ended up buying what felt like half the store!

MARKTTAG IN BLANKENESE! DOCH ZUERST LANDEN WIR IM REFORMHAUS( E-MAIL OBEN!) UND KAUFEN FAST DEN HALBEN LADEN, WEIL SOWOHL DER EIGENTÜMER, ALS AUCH SEINE LIEBENSSWÜRDIGE MITARBEITERIN SO NETT SIND UND UNS SO VIELES ANBIETEN!

But the we hit the market and one of the first places we saw was this pie-stand.
Having a British family does naturally mean: when you see good pies you get them and your guys will do whatever you ask of them for the rest of the day!

DOCH DANN AUF DEM MARKT FINDEN WIR DIESE DAME, DIE PIES VERKAUFT, WAS NATÜRLICH FÜR MEINE MÄNNER DER HIMMEL AUF ERDEN IST, OBWOHL SIE SCHON WIEDER TOTAL VOLLGEFUTTERT SIND, ABER FÜR 2 KLEINE PIES HAT MAN DOCH IMMER NOCH PLATZ, NICHT WAHR?

I asked the lady if it was okay that we took some pic and she said but only if you do what is written on this sign she was pointing to (kiss the cook!).

She was quite amazing, because she totally loved what she was doing, was so proud of her produce, which she made right from scratch, with mainly ecological ingredients. And in spite of them not being cheap and us having a financial crisis, people came all the time to buy from her, simply because her product was of high quality, tasted amazing and because it was so obvious how much love she had put into every singly pie...
UND DANN IHR LUIEBENSWÜRDIGES LÄCHELN, SIE HATTE DIESE PIES NICHT NUR MIT ETLICHEN ÖKOLOGISCHEN ZUTATEN GEMACHT, SONDERN AUCH MIT VIEL LIEBE!

as on every market, there were fruit sellers and we bought fish and there was a Turkish gentleman, selling Turkish delicacies... I of course couldn't say no to that since the turks kindof took care of me, when I was young and this way I got introduced to both the culture and their cuisine...

LECKERES OBST, FISCH UND TÜRKISCHE SPEZIALITÄTEN MUSSTEN NATÜRLICH AUCH NOCH SEIN...

unfortunately I didn't get his name, but I thought it was nice, how he was standing there and portraying the scene...

UND DANN SAHEN WIR DIESEN MALER...

Christmas decorations...

FRÜHER WEIHNACHTSDEKORATIONEN...

and then there was this place selling French delicacies and I bought patés and terrines...
- even more expensive than in France, but then again, my little hubby... you know, he really likes that sort of thing... but the other boys did of course get some German sausages as well!

UND FRANZÖSISCHE SPEZIALITÄTEN! DA KAUFTE ICH NATÜRLICH NOCH EINMAL ETWAS FÜR MEINEN MANN UND DIE ANDEREN WOLLTEN NATÜRLICH DEUTSCHE WÜRSTCHEN PROBIEREN...

And this is a typical ginger-bread-Lebkuchen-house, which everybody likes to look at and nobody wants to eat... it's like with many fruitcakes. Some people really love them. That is if they are made right! And others say... well... it looks nice, but do we absolutely have to put our teeth into it?!
